Sault firefighters began battling a blaze in a building on Albert Street West near the International Bridge today at around 4:30 p.m.
Seven trucks responded with 20 firefighters who were working to contain the blaze so it doesn't spread to nearby buildings.
As of 9:30 p.m., crews were still trying to knock the fire down.
Deputy Chief Mark Morgenstern said everyone safely exited the three-storey multi-unit building.
Morgenstern said the building “is an old structure,” which makes it more difficult to extinguish the fire.
Anyone with breathing issues should avoid the area.
