$250,000 worth of damage to transport trucks that went up in flames

CTV News

Innisfil Fire have confirmed two transport trucks caught on fire in a lot off of Highway 89 just west of 5th Sideroad in Cookstown on Saturday afternoon.

Chief Brent Thomas told CTV News while the fire was contained, under control, and put out, the trucks were a loss with a combined value of $250,000. He added that there was heat damage to other transports that were in the lot as well.

Fire officials said Saturday night they were managing a diesel fuel spill from the vehicles to ensure there was no environmental impact.

He noted the fire was no threat to public safety.

The cause of the fire was unknown but was deemed not suspicious.

He added that with no fire hydrant in the area, crews were using water tankers for firefighting. Thomas said it was “just about getting the right amount of tankers” which they were able to do.
