Notice of Passing – Former Augusta Fire Rescue Chief Lorne Dougherty

It is with great sadness that Augusta Fire Rescue announces the passing of former Fire Chief and Honorary Member Lorne Dougherty.

Lorne joined the fire department on June 15, 1966, and dedicated more than 44 years of service to Augusta Township before retiring on December 31, 2010. Throughout his distinguished career, Chief Dougherty worked his way through the ranks, serving as Fire Prevention Officer, Captain, Deputy Fire Chief, and ultimately Fire Chief from 2002 until his retirement in 2010.

Chief Dougherty's dedication to the fire service, his leadership, and his commitment to protecting the residents of Augusta Township have left a lasting legacy. He was a respected member of our fire service family, and his many years of service and contributions will not be forgotten.

On a personal note, I had the honour and privilege of serving alongside Chief Dougherty for 12 years and knowing him for 30 years. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to have known and worked with him.
