Flames destroy vacant home in Oshawa, displacing neighbours

A family of four has been displaced from their home after a fire in Oshawa.

The blaze actually broke out in a neighbouring home around 9:25 p.m. Wednesday on Celina Street near Olive Avenue.

Deputy Fire Chief Mike Barlow says it’s believed the fire started in a vacant, semi-detached home and the flames spread.

He says crews were met with large amounts of flames and had to deal with the cold as well while battling the blaze.

No injuries were reported.

The cause is still unknown and a total amount of damage loss is still being worked out.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to investigate.
