September 5, 2025 - Staffing Update – Farewell Deputy Fire Marshal Brian Godlonton

ENGLISH - 2025-07: As of Friday, September 5, 2025, Brian Godlonton’s term as Deputy Fire Marshal, Field Advisory and Technical Services (FAS), will conclude.

On behalf of the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM), I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Brian for his outstanding service and leadership during his time with the OFM. Brian brought a wealth of experience and insight from his tenure as Fire Commissioner in British Columbia, and his contributions have had a meaningful and lasting impact on our organization. His guidance in the FAS portfolio has strengthened our advisory and technical services, and his collaborative approach has been deeply appreciated by both staff and stakeholders. We are grateful for the time Brian spent with us and wish him continued success in his next chapter.

We remain committed to maintaining strong leadership and continuity across all portfolios during this period of transition. An executive recruitment firm has been procured to lead this recruitment and details will be available very soon.

Au nom du Bureau du commissaire des incendies (BCI), je veux remercier Brian pour son service et sa direction exceptionnelle pendant son temps au BCI. Brian a apporté une richesse d'expérience et de connaissances grâce à son mandat comme Commissaire des incendies en Colombie-Britannique, et ses contributions ont eu un impact significatif et persistant sur notre organisation. Sa direction du portefeuille a renforcé nos services consultatifs et techniques, et son esprit de collaboration a été très apprécié par le personnel et les parties prenantes. Nous sommes reconnaissants à Brian pour le temps qu'il a passé avec nous et nous lui souhaitons un succès continu dans son prochain chapitre.

July 23, 2024 - The OFM is pleased to announce that Applications for the 2024-25 Fire Protection Grant will be accepted through the Transfer Payment Ontario (TPON) system starting today. 

Applications will be accepted until 5:00PM on September 5, 2024.

The Office of the Fire Marshal will administer the grant through the Transfer Payment Ontario (TPON) system. Municipalities whose fire departments are interested in applying for this grant must set up a My Ontario account in the TPON system (many municipalities may be set up on this system already). More information on setting up a My Ontario account can be found on the TPON website.
