The Renfrew Fire Department (RFD) has partnered with Enbridge Gas Ontario and the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council to reduce fire and carbon monoxide (CO) deaths to zero, through Project Zero.

The program has invested $450,000 in smoke and CO alarms to be distributed amongst fire departments across the province.

RFD has received 144 alarms which they will distribute to households throughout the community.

RFD said it couldn’t come at a better time as CO alarm legislation will be changing in the new year.

This new legislation will cover additional bases, such as requiring CO alarms even if a fuel-burning appliance is located outside of a home.
