Ottawa firefighters were quick to extinguish a kitchen fire that grew out of control inside a south end home Sunday evening.
Ottawa Fire Services say in a news release that it received a 911 call reporting a fire at a single-family home in the 40 block of Inverness Avenue, south of Meadowlands Drive, at approximately 6:55 p.m.
On arrival, fire crews encountered heavy smoke inside the home and flames were visible from the back door.
A “working fire” was declared and additional resources were called to help battle the flames.
Firefighters initiated a “fast attack” on the flames and advanced a hose line inside, Ottawa Fire says.
Two full searches of the home found no occupants inside. The Ottawa Paramedic Service says they were called to the scene but there were no injuries.
The fire was declared under control at approximately 7:12 p.m.
High pressurized fans were used to ventilate the residual smoke out of the structure.
