The current update from Aviation and Forest Fire Emergency Services states there are 14 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region. Of those fires, five are not under control, three are being held, and six are under control.
There were 10 wildland fires confirmed in the Northeast Region today:
- Haliburton 12 (HAL012) is 1 hectare and located 0.25 of a kilometre west of Raven Lake, and 2.9 kilometres east of Highway 35. The fire is under control.
- Haliburton 13 (HAL013) is 0.1 of a hectare and located approximately 0.9 of a kilometre south of Barron River and 2 kilometres northeast of Corr Lake. The fire is under control.
- Haliburton 14 (HAL014) was 0.2 of a hectare and located on the west side of Hartsmere Road, approximately 0.6 of a kilometre east of Gin Lake Road. The fire is out.
- Haliburton 15 (HAL015) is 1.2 hectares and located along Paugh Lake Road, approximately 5.3 kilometres southwest of Round Lake and 3.3 kilometres northeast of Little Round Lake. The fire is being held.
- Sudbury 4 (SUD004) is 0.1 of a hectare and located on Secord Road, approximately 1.8 kilometres west of Highway 69. The fire is not under control.
- Haliburton 16 (HAL016) is 0.1 of a hectare and located along Haryett Road, approximately 0.6 of a kilometre east of Boulter Road, and 1.75 kilometres east of Fraser Lake. The fire is under control.
- Chapleau 3 (CHA003) is 2 hectares and located approximately 0.7 of a kilometre east of Argo Lake, and 2 kilometres south of Dog Lake. The fire is not under control.
- Timmins 7 (TIM007) is 0.2 of a kilometre and located approximately 0.4 of a kilometre southwest of Opemanah Lake, and 0.35 of a kilometre east of the north end of Akonewi Lake. The fire is not under control.
- Timmins 8 (TIM008) is 1.5 hectare and located just south of Round Lake and South Shore Road, approximately 0.75 of a kilometre west of Highway 112 and 2.4 kilometres east of Highway 11. The fire is being held.
- North Bay 12 (NOR012) is 1 hectare and located approximately 0.8 of a kilometre east of Highway 567 and 2.8 kilometres west of Lake Timiskaming. The fire is not under control.
There was one new fire confirmed after the update last night:
- Haliburton 11 (HAL011) is 0.1 of a hectare and located along Opeongo Road, approximately 2.8 kilometres north of Highway 60, and 1.6 kilometres southeast of Opeongo Lake. The fire is under control.
