Purpose of the Scholarship Program

The Canada 911 Ride Foundation Scholarship Program has been established to support the children of Canada’s emergency first responder community and to recognize the service, commitment, and sacrifice of those who serve, or have served, in police, fire, paramedic/EMS, and related public safety roles.

Through this scholarship program, the Canada 911 Ride Foundation seeks to assist eligible young people pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited institution. The program reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to honouring first responders, supporting their families, and giving back to the emergency services community.

The program also recognizes that service to the public often extends beyond the individual first responder and is shared by their families. By supporting post-secondary education, the Foundation seeks to make a meaningful contribution to the next generation while continuing to honour the values of service, sacrifice, remembrance, and community support that guide the Canada 911 Ride Foundation.

Scholarship Funds

The scholarship is intended to recognize and support young individuals who demonstrate leadership, community spirit, and a strong commitment to civic responsibility.

Two (2) successful applicants will be awarded a scholarship of $2,500 each.

Funds will be disbursed in Canadian dollars and paid directly to the recipient’s accredited post-secondary institution, whether it is a college, university, or recognized trade school.

If awarded a scholarship, the successful candidate must provide a photo to the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs for use at the upcoming Canada 911 Ride Foundation banquet.

Eligibility Criteria Applicants must:

At a minimum, each scholarship is open to applicants who meet the following eligibility requirements:

• The applicant must be the child of a firefighter whose parent is an employee, active duty or retired of Ontario’s Fire Service
• The applicant’s parent may be of Ontario’s firefighting community
• The scholarship applicant must be 25 years of age or younger at the time the scholarship is awarded
• Be entering or continuing studies at an accredited post-secondary institution
• Have obtained an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent
• Provide proof of acceptance to an accredited post-secondary institution for the 2026 academic year
• Maintain good academic standing
