SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Reporting to the Fire Chief, provides strategic leadership, through subordinate management, to a multi-functional workforce engaged in the delivery of Fire and Emergency Services.  Recommends broad policies and long-range strategies in the delivery of services to meet mandated goals, objectives and in alignment with the City of Hamilton’s risk profile and the department’s 10-Year Fire Service Delivery Plan.

Accountable for establishing and achieving operational goals and objectives through the effective and efficient use of financial and staff resources.  Uses a "best practices" approach in developing and delivering quality services in a timely and cost effective manner.  Models and instils a customer services focus in the department.

The Township of McMurrich/Monteith is seeking a Fire Chief. The successful candidate would work 37.5-hour week and some after-hour work, as required.

Annual Salary: $63,718.20 - $106,178.80 (under review) with Benefits and Defined Pension Plan
Reports To: Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
Positions Supervised: Volunteer Firefighters
Position Description: Responsible for the management of all aspects of the Fire Department including public education on fire prevention, emergency preparedness and response, in alignment with the objectives, policies and plans set by the CAO and Council.
