Chippewas of the Thames First Nation police are working alongside Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) after a person was found dead inside a burning vehicle Thursday morning.

At 2:58 a.m. officers were called along with the Oneida Nation fire department to Jubilee Road at Mount Elgin Drive, in Chippewas of the Thames First Nation south of London, for the report of the vehicle fire.

An individual was found dead inside the vehicle, but it's too soon to say whether the death is suspicious or not, police said.

"It hasn't been determined either way as the investigation is in the very early stages," said OPP Const. Jeff Hare.

The roads were closed for several hours for the investigation but have since reopened.

The OPP's Middlesex County crime unit and the office of the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal are now involved in the case.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. Anyone with information can reach out to them or Crime Stoppers.
