5 people displaced after Sunday morning structure fire

Five people have been displaced following a fire at a building in central London late Sunday morning.

According to a social media post from the London Fire Department, at approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday crews responded to the 100 block of Wellington Street for a report of a residential fire.

Upon arrival, crews saw heavy brown smoke coming from a second-floor bedroom.

Crews got the fire under control, but five people have been displaced and will be provided support from the Canadian Red Cross.

Damage is currently estimated to be approximately $100,000.

London fire says care and control of the property has been handed back to the owner.

The cause of the fire remains unclear at this time.
