Ottawa firefighters were called to the east end after a home’s patio furniture and gazebo went up in flames on a warm sunny afternoon in the capital.
In a news release, the Ottawa Fire Services say they received calls from multiple 911 callers reporting a fire in the backyard of a townhome on Maxime Street just south of Highway 174 at 1:24 p.m.
Fire crews found both the gazebo and patio furniture fully engulfed in flames and was spreading to a nearby fence. Additional resources were called to the scene to help quell the smoke and flames with a hose.
The fire was put out just over 10 minutes after firefighters received the call at 1:35 p.m.
Crews were able to extinguish the flames before they could spread to other nearby homes.
The cause of the fire is unclear. There were no reports of injuries.
