A critical piece of infrastructure has been added to the town of Angus.
The official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Angus Joint Facility Station 2, located at 14 Huron Street in Angus was held Friday.
An important milestone for the community, the new building celebrates the beginning of construction on a modern, multi-purpose facility that will host emergency services and municipal operations for years to come.
Mayor Sandy Macdonald welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of the project as a critical investment in Essa Township’s future.
“The new facility is essential to supporting the community’s continued growth, and will accommodate improved apparatus, increased staffing, and dedicated training spaces,” Macdonald said at the ground-breaking ceremony,
“These enhancements will ensure fire personnel have the tools and resources they need to serve residents effectively and safely,” she said.
Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson recognized the importance of infrastructure projects that strengthen local communities and support first responders.
Fire Chief Doug Burgin thanked council for their ongoing support, noting that the existing fire hall is 60 years old.
The new facility will serve as a key hub for the Essa Fire Department and municipal services, improving response times and providing upgraded resources for staff and residents alike.
Construction on the Angus Joint Facility Station 2 is scheduled to begin next week, with further updates to be shared as the project progresses.
