Unconscious resident pulled from Thunder Bay house fire

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on Luci Court on Thursday afternoon.

The Thunder Bay Professional Firefighters Association said crews arrived to find heavy smoke pouring from a single-family home on April 9.

“With conditions rapidly deteriorating, a second alarm was struck and firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack,” the association said in a social media post.

“Simultaneously, a rapid search was conducted in zero visibility.”

Officials said crews located an unconscious resident inside the home, removed them from the building and immediately began critical medical care until paramedics arrived on scene and took over patient care.

Crews said the fire, which the association said is believed to have originated in a rear bedroom, was brought under control quickly through coordinated efforts and strong initial action.

“Incidents like this highlight the critical role of rapid response, training and teamwork when seconds matter most,” said the association.
