Firefighters and paramedics respond to fire call at men’s shelter

Aaron Gravelle, public education officer with the Sault Fire Services, confirmed by email that firefighters responded to a fire call shortly before 11 a.m. in the 700-block of Wellington Street East.

"Upon arrival, there was a slight haze of smoke in one of the units on the third floor of the building. There was no fire.

"The cause of the smoke is undetermined. There were no injuries to report," said Gravelle.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to a call shortly before 11 a.m. at the city's men's shelter.

Four fire trucks and an ambulance were among the vehicles that responded to the incident.

Firefighters were seen leaving the men's shelter with firefighting equipment, including an axe and a fire hose.
