Emergency North Training Board of Directors Elections Process

1. As per the Emergency North Training Inc. Constitution, the ENT Board has appointed Mark MacDonald, Executive Director from the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs as Chief Returning Officer, Nominations Committee to oversee the elections process. Due to ENT members being spread across a wide geographic region, an online nominations process was approved by the Nominations Committee to ensure all eligible voters have an opportunity to cast their ballot.

2. Online nominations will go live on Monday August 18, 2025. As per the Emergency North Training Inc. Constitution, members from every fire team providing fire protective services to a municipal, unincorporated or First Nations community in the Districts of Kenora, Rainy River or Thunder Bay are considered active members, and may nominate another member.  As per the Emergency North Training Inc. Constitution one member each shall be elected for the following Districts:

• Kenora,
• Rainy River,
• Thunder Bay,
• Northern Fire Protection Program within the Districts noted above *new this year - added to the Constitution at the 2024 ENT AGM.*
• Three (3) remaining member(s) shall be elected from the region at large.

3. To nominate someone in one, or more district, you will be required to complete the online nominations form. Please note that all nominations must be seconded by another member. Members are not permitted to self-nominate.

4. Members will be contacted by the OAFC by email if they have been nominated.  In addition, all nominees’ names will be posted online on this landing page.  In the email notification, there will be a link to the “Declaration to Stand Form”.  This form identifies that the nominee wishes to stand for the Board of Directors (or not).  Every nominee will be required to complete the form.  Nominations will close at 4:00pm EST on September 12, 2025, and all declarations to stand must be submitted by September 19, 2025 at 4:00pm EST.  

5. Voting will be open on September 22, 2025 at 10:00am EST and closes on October 6, 2025 at 4:00pm EST.

6. ENT Board of Directors will be formally announced on October 7, 2025 at the ENT AGM at 7:00pm EST.

ENT Election Ballot 

The Emergency North Training Board of Directors Elections will be conducted electronically, online.  Voting will take place over a 14 day period, allowing ample time for members to cast their ballot. The ballot goes live on September 22, 2025 at 10:00am EST and will close on October 6, 2025 at 4:00pm EST.
