Barrie Police say they received multiple calls overnight for a fire at an abandoned building in the city’s south end.
Barrie Fire and Emergency Services confirmed to CTV News that the fire was at an abandoned house that had already collapsed, in the area of Lockhart Road, between Bayview Drive and Welham Road.
According to police and fire officials, calls began around 1:40 a.m., alerting emergency crews to situation.
By the time officers arrived, fire crews were already on scene. Surrounding roads were closed to allow crews to battle the blaze.
The fire department says the blaze was in control in within 30 minutes and fully extinguished within a few hours.
Police confirmed roads in the area reopened around 4:40 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
