The Humber College Fire Service Executive Management Certificate program provides a solid foundation for those looking to enter into a leadership position in the fire service, or to further the career of current fire service professionals in mid-level or management positions.

The FSMC program will build on existing skills and experience, and teach how to apply those skills to everyday decision-making, problem solving and strategic planning. Topics focus on the essential skills required by fire service leaders. The courses will provide a practical look into “real life” challenges and opportunities. This program has the endorsement of the office of the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) and the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC).

The Fire Service Management Series will enable you to:

  • Enhance leadership skills,
  • Improve business knowledge,
  • Think, plan and lead strategically,
  • Function professionally and efficiently within the public realm,
  • Establish effective and progressive Human Resources and Labour Relations skills,
  • Adapt to a changing environment,
  • Maintain a safe and healthy workplace.

Certificate Criteria – Eighteen (18) Credits Total: 
Twelve (12) Compulsory Credits + Six (6) Elective Credits (Courses can be taken in any order) 

Fire Officer III and IV - There is an agreement with AS&E and Humber, that any candidate that completes the FSMC certificate program can apply to receive the equivalency of NFPA 1021 Level 3 and 4.  You must have completed NFPA 1021 Level 1 and 2 before you apply to AS&E.  When you complete your certificate and have NFPA 1021 Level 1 and 2, let us know and we will provide you with the process to apply. Upon successful completion of a total of eighteen (18) credits (12+6), a Humber Certificate of Completion will be awarded.
The Humber Certificate should be completed within a five year time frame.
