Multiple 911 callers told firefighters of a blaze that was quickly consuming a hedge in Nepean and spreading to a vehicle and home.
Crews were called to the 10th block of Andover Place near the Ottawa campus of Algonquin College on Wednesday, around 3:53 p.m.
Reports indicated that a hedge next to the driveway was on fire, and when crews arrived, it was quickly consuming a vehicle that was next to it. More resources were needed minutes after the first team arrived.
Firefighters brought a hose inside the home where the flames were burning and started dousing them. Another crew searched the house for people and didn’t find anyone.
Officials were also dousing a nearby home that was at risk of catching. The secondary house sustained some radiant heat damage, photos show.
The blaze was declared under control by 5:05 p.m. High-pressure fans were needed to remove the smoke from the home. Victim services were dispatched to the scene.
An Ottawa fire investigation was dispatched to determine the cause of the fire.
