The cause of a fire at Scott’s Corner Store this morning, April 16, is still under investigation, said the Smiths Falls fire chief.
Firefighters with the Smiths Falls Fire Department were dispatched to 99 Beckwith St. N. shortly after 6 a.m.
Heavy flames were spreading to the building’s roof trusses upon arrival, said Chief Rick Chesebrough.
The blaze was extinguished within two hours with the help of the Montague Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
While the cause has still yet to be determined, Chesebrough said potential electrical issues were being looked at since the structure was undergoing renovation.
Authorities are now working with the owners to determine the financial extent of the damage.
