SooToday reached out to the fire department and Enbridge Gas to determine where the smell was coming from today in the city.
"We have had an influx of calls for gas leaks related to the freeze-thaw cycle and ice is shifting which is causing breaking lines," said Aaron Gravelle, public education officer with Sault Fire Services.
Enbridge has been receiving calls for service due to this issue, he said.
"There have not been any city-wide calls or anything out of the ordinary," Gravelle said.
Natasha Carr, communications advisor with Enbridge, said they hope to provide an answer soon.
"We are aware and currently investigating the matter," she said via email.
