‘We had lots of saws and fans involved’: London fire crews called to fire in high-price condo on Wortley Village

London fire crews were called to a Wortley Village building containing what is believed to be London’s highest priced condo.

An aerial truck was brought in for the third-floor fire at 122 Wortley Rd., just north of Craig Street.

Occupants noticed smoke in the upper-level unit around 7:30 am Monday and called 911.

When fire crews arrived, they identified a heat source in the floor separating the second and third storey. They cut through wood and concrete to isolate the source, which appeared to be electrical in nature.

London Fire Department Platoon Chief Gary Mosburger told CTV News, “It took a while for us to overhaul, rip apart the floor and gain access to where the fire was. We had lots of saws and fans involved in getting access to this fire.”

Fire officials say the building was constructed in 2017 and included extensive smart home infrastructure.

The condo which covers the entire third floor recently sold for a reported $2.25M, identified as the highest price ever paid for a condo in London.
