A residential property on Town Line was reduced to rubble yesterday due to a significant blaze that prompted an investigation by provincial and local authorities.
Investigators from the Office of the Fire Marshal were at the scene today as an excavator was used to comb through what's left of the home.
Jim Demetriou, media relations and communications strategist for the OFM, said the incident is under investigation.
"At this time, we are not able to confirm or share any details regarding the cause, injuries, fatalities, damage, or circumstances surrounding the fire. No additional information is available at this stage," said Demetriou.
A Sault Police forensics van and local firefighters were also on scene.
Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services has not responded to questions about the fire or if there were any injuries.
