"Proper planning can save lives," says Deputy Chief Greg Saunders, who is encouraging all North Bay residents to watch a new emergency preparedness video released by Ontario's Ministry of Emergency Preparedness and Response.
Saunders says, with more frequent winter storms increasing the risk of power outages, he is highlighting the preventative measures video.
"Members of our community can take action before, during, and after a power outage that can help to keep them safe during an emergency," says Saunders in a news release. (See video below)
"North Bay Fire advocates having an emergency kit ready that will provide the necessities to sustain the members of a household for 72 hours. Be prepared, stay safe.
"Properly located, properly maintained smoke and carbon monoxide alarms will provide you with the warning necessary to safely evacuate you and your loved ones during an emergency."
The video was created by the new Ontario Ministry of Emergency Preparedness and Response.
