Firefighters were called to an apartment unit behind Delphi Banquet Hall in Niagara Falls late Sunday afternoon after fire broke out on the kitchen stove.
Deputy Chief Ken Henry said the call came in at 4:16 p.m. When firefighters arrived at 4414 Portage Rd., an occupant was attempting to contain the fire with an extinguisher.
Crews arrived to smoke coming from the unit, and upon running a hose line in encountered flames on the stove.
The fire was quickly contained, limiting the damage, Henry said.
“There was no spread to any other areas of the unit,” he said.
There were no injuries.
In all, five fire trucks responded to the scene.
