A home on Janey Avenue on Airport Hill in North Bay was destroyed in an early morning weekend fire.
The North Bay Fire and Emergency Services arrived at the scene around 5 a.m. on November 1.
"Upon arrival emergency crews from all three stations were met with heavy fire in the roof and at the rear of the home," said Greg Saunders, deputy fire chief in an email.
"All of the seven teenagers staying at the home that evening were able to safely evacuate after being alerted to the danger by the smoke alarms in the residence."
On Monday morning, the home was empty, evacuated, and boarded up, with the roofs of the garage and home caved in.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of our Fire Prevention division.
This fire is yet another reminder that properly located, properly maintained smoke and carbon monoxide alarms will provide you with the early notification required to safely evacuate both you and your loved ones from your residence in an emergency.
