Crews couldn’t enter house fire on Third Line East

On Saturday shortly before 5 a.m., Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service crews responded to a call of a blaze in a house in the 100 block of Third Line East.

Upon arrival, there was significant smoke and flames visible in the house, detached garage as well as a vehicle parked in the driveway.

After several hours of battling the blaze, fire crews were able to contain it.

PUC Services and Enbridge Gas attended the scene, and EMS was called for precautionary reasons.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended to block traffic.

“Due to significant structural damage, fire investigators were unable to enter the dwelling,” the fire department said in a news release.

“The cause of the fire is undetermined.”

Fire and smoke caused extensive damage to the house, the detached garage, and a vehicle parked in the driveway.

There is also heat damage to neighbouring structures. There were no injuries to report, the fire department said.
