The cause of a Sunday night house fire is undetermined.

Fire crews were called to the home in the 3500 block of Byng Road around 10:00pm and found the rear of the home on fire.

One person escaped from a second-floor window and was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, but has since been released.

One cat was saved, but unfortunately, one dog died, and two other animals are unaccounted for.

Fire officials say that a smoke alarm at the top of the stairs to the upper level was not working.

Investigators say it originated on the rear deck and caused $550,000 in damage.

The Windsor Police Arson Unit is actively investigating the incident. Residents in the immediate area are asked to review any surveillance or dash camera footage recorded between 9:00pm and 10:30pm on February 15th for suspicious activity.
