A Guelph Line home was significantly damaged by a fire this morning.

Firefighters arrived shortly after 11 a.m. to find the single-storey bungalow, located on the west side of Guelph Line just north of Mohawk Racetrack, fully involved, with flames visible through the windows.

Crews faced challenging conditions, including temperatures near -12 C, wind chill values closer to -20 and the lack of nearby hydrants due to its location. Firefighters had to shuttle water using tankers from the closest hydrant at Mohawk Racetrack.

After confirming nobody was inside the residence, crews proceeded with defensive operations. Approximately 20 firefighters responded, supported by five fire trucks and three water tankers.

Halton police closed Guelph Line between 5 Sideroad 10 Sideroad to allow emergency crews to conduct operations.

No injuries were reported.
