Some 99 McNaughton residents displaced after another fire

CTV News

Some residents at 99 McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham have been displaced after another apartment fire.

Chatham-Kent fire crews responded to a report for smoke in the halls, which led to be a fire on the second floor. Crews were able to keep it isolated to one apartment.

Tenants from the second floor’s D block were not able to go home to their units on Thursday night. Evacuees were able to go across the road to the church and get help from Housing Services and Fire Admin.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Friday morning, the Ontario Fire Marshal will be on scene for an investigation.

This follows a fire in 2024, that saw residents displaced for about a year.
