The province is investing more than $170,000 to support firefighters across the West Parry Sound District.
Officials say the funding will be delivered through the Fire Protection Grant, which is part of a $20 million government investment to better protect Ontario.
Funds will support firefighter health and safety, expand cancer prevention initiatives and improve emergency response to lithium-ion battery related incidents.
A total of 380 municipal fire departments, including those in Carling, McDougall, McKellar, Parry Sound and Whitestone, will each receive their own funding.
The allocation of local funding is as follows:
- Carling – $16,000
- McDougall – $33,604
- McKellar – $32,049
- Parry Sound – $16,445
- Seguin – $50,132
- Whitestone – $23,332
