A woman has been charged after three firefighters were struck by the driver of a vehicle in Uxbridge in November.

On Nov. 16 around 7:40 p.m., police and the Uxbridge Fire Department responded to a transport truck and pickup truck collision in the area of Wagg Road near Old Highway 47, according to a November press release.

As emergency crews were responding, a Hyundai SUV lost control and collided with three firefighters and the driver of the transport truck before crashing through a fence and into a tree, police said in a Friday press release.

Investigators previously said they believe both collisions were caused by hazardous road conditions from snow and ice.

A 42-year-old firefighter was airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital in critical, but stable condition, police said. A 37-year-old fire captain was taken to a Toronto-area hospital with serious injuries, and a 54-year-old fire captain was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and was later released.

The transport truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The SUV driver also sustained minor injuries, police said. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Investigators have concluded their investigation and charged the SUV driver, a 42-year-old woman from Courtice, Ont., with three counts of careless driving causing bodily harm.

She was issued a court summons to attend Provincial Offences Court.
