CityNews

Kitchener firefighters are remaining at the scene of a blaze that forced the ION trains to halt temporarily on Tuesday morning.

According to Kitchener fire, multiple crews responded to a structure blaze near Queen and Charles streets in the downtown core at 10:45 a.m.

After dousing flames with water, officials reported the fire was out and no injuries were reported. The situation forced the nearby light rail transit system to be paused temporarily, but it has since resumed.

Regional police officers are on scene and due to an investigation the roadways in the area may close and open as needed.

There is no cost of the damage estimated yet, Kitchener fire said.

This is a developing story.
