LRS Code of Conduct and Event Terms and Conditions

OAFC Event Code of Conduct 

The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC) is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful community for all. We expect all participants—our exhibitors, visitors, speakers, performers, special guests, staff, vendors, media, and anyone involved in the event—to follow our code of conduct.

Our Code of Conduct

  • Zero tolerance for harassment towards OAFC staff and volunteers.
  • Treat everyone with respect, regardless of background, identity, or beliefs.
  • Respect personal space and boundaries.
  • Inappropriate behaviours such as harassment, discrimination, offensive language, verbal or physical threats, violence, abuse, hate speech, and misinformation will not be tolerated at any in-person events and/or digital platforms and community channels. See below for a list of what we consider inappropriate behaviours.
  • Zero tolerance for solicitation of products/services at an OAFC trade show if you do not have a trade show booth. 

Violation of the Code of Conduct may result in warnings, removal from the show without a refund, banning from future events, and involvement of law enforcement if necessary. If you encounter any harassment, misconduct, or safety concerns, please let OAFC staff know immediately.

Creating a Respectful Environment

The OAFC is committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive space. We have a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behaviours, including but not limited to:

  • Discrimination & Harassment: Any form of discrimination or harassment based on race, sex, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, disability, or marital status. This includes actions that violate a person’s dignity or create an intimidating, hostile, degrading, or offensive environment.
  • Sexual Harassment: Included but not limited to unwanted physical contact (touching, hugging, kissing), sexual comments (in person, online, via social media), suggestive looks, intrusive questions.
  • Offensive Language & Gestures: Verbal abuse, sexually explicit language, racial, religious, or ethnic slurs, and obscene gestures.
  • Inappropriate or Offensive Materials: Displaying or sharing offensive material such as sexually graphic images or content that is harassing, abusive, discriminatory, or demeaning.
  • Stalking & Unwanted Attention: Following, photographing, or recording someone without consent in a way that causes discomfort or fear.
  • Threats & Intimidation: Verbal, physical, or written threats, menacing gestures, or any actions meant to intimidate.
  • Physical Harassment & Violence: Pushing, shoving, or any use of physical force.
  • Weapons & Dangerous Items: Possessing or displaying weapons or any object used to threaten or intimidate.
  • Property Damage: Deliberately damaging the venue or personal property.
  • Misinformation: Sharing false or misleading information that can cause confusion, harm, or misrepresentation.
  • Disruptive Behavior: Gathering with the intent to disturb the peace or commit an offense.

OAFC Event Terms and Conditions

Cancellation Policy: NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED.  ALL REGISTRATIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. Substitutions are permitted up until 7 days prior to the event.

I acknowledge that if I am registering on behalf of someone else that I have permission to do so. 

Please choose your options carefully as registrations paid via credit card through this website that are not entered correctly, could result in an administrative penalty fee ($25).

Event Registration Policy:

The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC) holds regular annual events for purposes of education and networking.  LRS is open to persons in chief fire officers, senior municipal officials and human resource professionals. The Labour Relations Seminar and the Pre-Seminar Workshops are restricted to non-union members of municipal council, senior municipal management officials and chief fire officers.

By registering for the event and agreeing to the terms and conditions the attendees agrees for their information to be shared with Hicks Morley (first name, last name, title, department, and email).

The OAFC has a registration function on this website.  Users of the registration function agree that, subject to the Privacy Policy posted on this website, their information can be used to contact them in connection with the event and any other contact deemed necessary for running its events, subject to the laws governing sound internet practices.  By using the registration functions on this website, users acknowledge that the OAFC reserves the right to cancel the event, change the venue, change the format, time and date of the event with notice and offer reasonable alternatives, including refunds if applicable. Cancellation of an event caused by any calamity, attack, pandemic, or act of God, beyond the control of the OAFC and its agents does not constitute grounds for a refund. It is the user's responsibility to abide by the cancellation policy of each event. The OAFC does not reimburse any attendee for travel costs should a program be cancelled.  Attendees should book any applicable travel after the cancellation date and/or ensure to purchase travel insurance, if applicable. The OAFC and/or it's third party affiliates reserve the right to refuse to register any individual from attending an OAFC and/or a third party affiliates event for any reason, and is under no obligation to provide justification for such a decision. Payments in relation to events are processed by PayPal - a third-party service provider. The OAFC and any third party affiliate assumes no liability for those using the registration function or payment function, and the user accepts that any dispute with regard to payment or distribution or use of information collected by PayPal - the payment service provider - will be raised directly with them.

I understand that my credit card statement will show this transaction as "ONT ASSOC OF FIRE CHIEFS." and I will ensure that anyone who reviews the statement is aware of the transaction.
