FSMC 021 - Fire Prevention and Public Education for Fire Services Officers
Participants will be provided with a thorough overview of what you need to know as a manager of Fire Prevention professionals. The Fire Chief's responsibilities under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act (FPPA), with regards to Fire Prevention and Inspection will be covered along with how to create partnerships with stakeholders.

The responsibility to provide public education under the Act (FPPA) will be highlighted with tools on how to work with your community's stakeholders to be provided to the participants. Topics covered will include public education initiatives, best practices, a Community risk Assessment, community partnership building and reaching out to a diverse community.

FSMC 022 -Emergency Management for Senior Leaders
This course is an introductory level program, designed to provide an overview of Emergency Management (EM).
The many elements of EM will be covered, when to declare an emergency, applicable legislation, basic emergency management, site management and the emergency operations centre. 

FSMC 023 - ​Managing Multiple Agency Responses
This course will prepare you to perform leadership roles within an expanded IMS structure during a complex incident involving multiple organizations.

FSMC 025 - ​Personal Management Skills
This must-attend course will provide instruction on personal management skills for the new fire service manager. It's a lesson on "office survival" for the novice manager and will provide tools for greater effectiveness for the experienced or recently promoted manager. Topics include time management, action planning and personal communications. Efficiently managing meetings, including developing a meeting agenda and chairing an effective meeting will also be covered. Since municipal employees often need to deal with the members of their Municipal Council. This course will provide the participants with the necessary skills to interact with their Council understanding all of the applicable protocols. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss the benefits of personal well-being on a productive workplace.
FSMC 026 - Change Management
This course teaches students how to plan, execute major types of change: mergers, cultural transformations, technological, organizational and market changes. Participants will be given tools to better cope with a changing “playing field”.
FSMC 027 - Dispute Resolution Skills
This is an introduction to dispute resolution systems. The course will discuss the factors that both support and inhibit successful outcomes.  Those factors include time constraints, willingness to settle and are the right people at the table.  Roleplaying exercises will be utilized to provide the participants with hands-on training to develop their own methods for improving their communication skills, exploring opportunities that exist for settlement and using those skills to build better and more effective relationships where impasse or issues currently exists
FSMC 028 - Negotiations Skills
Collective bargaining in the essential services sector can often be challenging.
Without the risks to strike or lock out, the parties find it all too easy to “give up”, sending the process to an expensive arbitration process. Moving away from a traditional and adversarial approach towards a more collaborative and Interest Focused approach to negotiation is seen as the new way forward. This program will give the participants the tools to effectively negotiate at the bargaining table. Roleplaying will be utilized to teach hands-on skills.

FSMC 029 - Performance Management
This course will focus on performance analysis, counselling, coaching, constructive feedback, conflict resolution, performance management systems and overall strategies for performance management.
FSMC 030 - Communications Skills
Day One will concentrate on crisis communications skills. In a crisis, stakeholders look to persons of authority to clearly communicate their perception of the event. This course will teach you how to identify an incident as a crisis, collect and process the pertinent information and also to disseminate crisis messages to both internal and external stakeholders. Day Two will provide instruction on external communications including media relations and issuing press releases. Topics will include, how to prepare clear and concise communications, communication options and communication styles. Social media and how to effectively communication with the public will also be studied.
FSMC 031 - Fire Service Technology
This course will provide an up-to-date introduction to emerging and innovative fire service technology.
The use of GIS technology, mobile data systems, digital technology, Computer Aided Dispatch and the latest in fire research and development will be highlighted. This course will provide an overview of response time guidelines, for example: NFPA 1710 and OFM Integrated Risk Model.  The participants will be introduced to the benefits of utilizing state of the art GIS technology to maximize response time efficiency.

FSMC 033 - Research Methods 1
This course will enable participants to develop an understanding of research by critically exploring common research language, ethics, and approaches.

This course has been divided into two parts.  FSMC 033 is Part 1.

This course has been divided into two parts.  FSMC 034 is Part 2.

FSMC 035 - Major Apparatus Spec and Procurement 
This course will provide students with the research requirements with respect to developing specifications and procurement outlines when purchasing apparatus within your municipality. NFPA and ULC standards along with information regarding specifications creation for potential vendors, evaluating vendors, meeting with vendors and receiving apparatus are covered in this course. The challenges of budgeting, procurement processes and approvals, costs and delivery timelines are all factors affecting the Fire Service and being knowledgeable and skilled at major apparatus Spec and Procurement is essential for Fire Service Leaders.
