Lowe's, Rona and First Alert Fire Prevention Community Events
The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC) is pleased to announce that we are once again continuing our partnership with First Alert Canada Lowe’s Home Improvement and RONA stores to promote fire prevention and fire safety throughout communities in Ontario.
Through the leadership of local fire departments, a series of fire prevention and public education events will be held during October and November (which hosts Fire Prevention and Carbon Monoxide Awareness weeks) at participating Lowe’s and RONA stores across Ontario. Our goal is to show people how simple, yet important, fire prevention can be.
Stop by participating Lowe’s or RONA stores for live fire truck demonstrations, information sessions on smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, fire escape planning tips and tricks, and contest giveaways, including Will Fightfire and Friends products and activity materials.
But that’s not all!
This year the OAFC is hosting a kids fire safety poster contest. The OAFC's fire safety characters, Will Fightfire, Fiona Firesafety and Friends want kids to illustrate how they stay fire safe at home, at school, or in their community by submitting a poster of them practicing fire safety. The contest will be run throughout October and November, with all entries being submitted back to the OAFC office by December 11, 2020. The child with the winning entry will receive a special prize package that includes: a fire safety gift pack, a $500 cash prize, and a customized offer from the local fire department (COVID-19 restrictions may apply), which could include a fire station tour, a ride in a fire truck, and/or being a fire chief for a day. The contest runs from October 1, 2020 until December 11, 2020.
