The Municipality of McDougall is a single tier municipality located in the District of Parry Sound situated beside the Town of Parry Sound and on the shore of Georgian Bay.  With a population of 2700 and 268 square km size McDougall comprises small urban, rural and vast wilderness areas within its jurisdiction.

The Municipality of McDougall is seeking a permanent full time experienced, motivated, and organized individual to fill the role of Fire Chief and Municipal Enforcement Chief with McDougall Protective Services. The Fire Chief, as a member of the Senior Management Team participates in the development and implementation of corporate goals and objectives both within Fire and Municipal Enforcement Services and across the organization. The incumbent directs the overall administration, financial management, and operations of the McDougall Fire Department and Municipal Enforcement Services which is comprised of Suppression, Prevention, Public Education and Municipal Enforcement within the parameters of the Municipal mission and values and the Fire Protection and Prevention Act. This position also includes coordinating emergency and disaster response in McDougall as the Community Emergency Management Coordinator.

The successful candidate will possess 10 years of Fire Officer experience with experience in public administration, financial or human resources management an asset.  Additional qualifications and work experience are specified in the full job description.

  • Hold a valid, unrestricted Ontario Driver’s License Class “D” with a “Z” endorsement (or out of province equivalent).
  • Possess specialized training in disaster/emergency preparedness and response.
