The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands invites you to join our management team on a full-time, permanent basis. 
 
The Township is a picturesque waterfront community in Eastern Ontario strategically situated along the 401 corridor and adjacent to the City of Kingston.  We have a permanent population of 9,500, which increases to 12,000 in the summer months. 
 
Reporting to the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief/Training Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Fire Chief in managing the day to day operations of the Fire Department, and emergency incidents. You will also coordinate internal training and oversee our Regional Training Centre in conjunction with the OFM and the OFC. The department consists of 72 volunteers reporting to 4 Station Captains.  You will be supported in this role by the Fire Services/Training Centre Business Administrator. 
 
The preferred applicant will have post-secondary education and training in administration and/or management; significant fire service training and experience; proficiency in Microsoft Office; excellent oral and written communication skills; presentation and course development skills; demonstrated interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving and decision-making abilities; DZ license; first aid / CPR and ability to operate fire equipment. 
 
The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector police check as well as a satisfactory drivers abstract.

REMUNERATION – The annual salary is between $65,265 to $80,644, commensurate with experience, based on a 35 hour week. The Township offers a comprehensive benefits package; participation in OMERS, and will be able to consider a flexible start date.
