Purpose/Mandate

The purpose of the OAFC Industry Committee is to help those who manufacture, produce, and sell fire related equipment, and chief fire officers, to connect, interact, and communicate on issues of importance to the emergency services industry. This committee will provide an additional avenue of communication to ensure that any Industry member concerns OAFC members have, are addressed.  The committee is responsible for making recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Scope of the OAFC Industry Committee

The OAFC Industry Committee is expected to raise and discuss issues that affect OAFC Industry members, which relate to the delivery of fire services and fire protection. This committee will recommend and consult on membership benefits, the OAFC Trade Show, and OAFC events. The Committee is expected to direct recommendations to the Board of Directors, via the chair, for further action and/or resolution. This committee will also address issues submitted to them by the Board for deliberation and/or recommendation(s).

Role/Authority of the OAFC Industry Committee

Committee roles include the discussion of fire service industry concerns, trends, and how the fire service industry and manufacturing sector affects, effects, and interacts with the fire service in Ontario to promote the safest possible deliverance of fire protection services across Ontario. Committee members are responsible for environmental scanning and maintaining situational awareness to ensure that the committee is well positioned to address current and emerging issues. The committee may engage in discussion, research, data collection, and the review of existing or emerging procedures or guidelines. The committee may invite speakers or content experts, as approved by the Executive Director. The committee will report back to the Board for further action or resolution of issues. Meeting minutes will be maintained by the appointed OAFC staff representative and will be posted on the OAFC website for member reference.
