SP230 Wildland Fire Strategies and Tactics

The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC), in partnership with the Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES), is hosting the initial offering of the revised SP230 Wildland Fire Strategies and Tactics for Fire Departments course.
 
There are four departments hosting.  Registration is open to any members of the fire service in Ontario.

SP230 Course Overview
 
The SP230 course is intended to provide instruction to municipal fire departments regarding wildland fire suppression, to allow for safer and more efficient interagency response. This 2-day training session is a follow up to the SP103 and is designed for incident commanders within municipal fire departments.

  • Firefighter safety considerations relating to wildland fire
  • Fire weather
  • Fire behaviour in wildland fuels
  • Fire column assessment
  • Fire investigation
  • Strategies and tactics
  • Course duration: 8:30am to 4:00pm over 2 days
  • Prerequisites: SP103 or SP100
