OAFC Webinar - what3words: A free addition to your emergency service toolkit

OAFC Free Online Learning Opportunity:

what3words: A free addition to your emergency service toolkit

Several emergency services in Ontario (including Kingston Fire and Oshawa Fire) have recently started using what3words, a new tool to help services locate 9-1-1 callers quickly and accurately. what3words is free of charge to emergency services, is available offline, and requires no CAD integration. Globally, what3words has already proven a vital tool for saving time and lives in emergency situations.
The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs is pleased to bring you this free, online learning session, where Jane and Greg from what3words will be introducing you to the what3words system, how it works, sharing stories from other services who have used the tool successfully, and will explain how it can be implemented in a control room, without any technical integration.

This session will take place on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 10:00am EST via Zoom Webinar.

About what3words

The simplest way to talk about location. Street addresses weren’t designed for 2020. They aren’t accurate enough to specify precise locations, such as building entrances, and don’t exist for parks and many rural areas.  This makes it hard to find places and prevents people from describing exactly where help is needed in an emergency.  That’s why what3words was created.  what3words divided the entire planet into 3 metre squares and gave each square a unique combination of three words to identify where someone is on planet earth - within 3 square metres.
