Northeastern Fire Education Conference and Trade Show March 23-25, 2023

About the Northeastern Fire Education Conference

The Northeastern Fire Education Conference and Trade Show, otherwise known as NEFEC, provides one of the most affordable educational and networking opportunities for senior fire officers, company officers, firefighters, and elected municipal officials in northeastern Ontario.

Over the course of three days, attendees hear from informative and engaging speakers who will be presenting on interesting and relevant topics for today’s fire service.  The conference agenda includes professional and leadership development, new technologies and science in the fire service, relevant and up-to-date topics concerning firefighter health and safety, public education, fire prevention, and team building activities.

The agenda focuses on pertinent information for all levels of fire personnel and municipal officials in both composite and volunteer fire departments, and municipalities.

NEFEC is hosted by the Nipissing/East Parry Sound Fire Services Mutual Aid Association and takes place at Deerhurst Resort in beautiful Muskoka.  All members of the fire service are welcome to participate in this invaluable learning and networking experience.

In addition to the excellent conference content, NEFEC also boasts a world class trade show, which has all major fire service suppliers in attendance. The trade show continues to be a significant contributor to the overall success of the NEFEC. Participants are given multiple opportunities to visit with exhibitors to ensure they are up to date on the latest tools, technologies, and equipment available in the fire service. It is a perfect opportunity to negotiate the best prices on equipment and services for your department.

In the evenings, NEFEC networking events and annual banquet offer attendees the ideal opportunity to interact and socialize with colleagues, exhibitors, and municipal officials, while enjoying refreshments and entertainment.

The NEFEC would not be possible without the dedication and hard work of our committee. Members of the 2023 planning committee are:

  • Fire Chief Frank Loeffen, West Nipissing
  • Retired Fire Chief Richard Maranda
  • Fire Chief Mark Whynott, Markstay-Warren
  • Fire Chief Mike Pichor, Espanola
  • Fire Chief Will Bateman, Nipissing
