This course will provide an up-to-date introduction to emerging and innovative fire service technology.
The use of GIS technology, mobile data systems, digital technology, Computer Aided Dispatch and the latest in fire research and development will be highlighted. This course will provide an overview of response time guidelines, for example: NFPA 1710 and OFM Integrated Risk Model. The participants will be introduced to the benefits of utilizing state of the art GIS technology to maximize response time efficiency.
This course is part of the Humber College Fire Service Executive Management Certificate program, and counts as one (1) of the six (6) elective courses required towards the certificate.
A minimum of 20 participants must be registered in order for the course to proceed.
Instructor:
Michelle Stronach has track record helping organizations improve service delivery through process improvement and technology enablement. She has a unique perspective of public safety services having held various technology related leadership roles within three agencies: police, paramedics and fire. Michelle is the Division Chief of Analytics and Decision Support at Toronto Fire where she is working with innovative technology for advancing service performance and accreditation status. Michelle has a Bachelor’s of Mathematics with honours in Business Administration and Information Systems from the University of Waterloo and is also an active member in the project management community as a speaker and writer.
