CANCELLED - 2020-2021 Ontario Fire Fighters Memorial Ceremony

CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19

Ontario Fire Fighter Memorial Service, Sunday, October 3rd 2021 at 1:00pm

Please note that this event has been CANCELLED due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  More information to come.

Due to the ongoing COIVD-19 pandemic, this year’s Fire Fighter Memorial scheduled to take place on October 3, 2021, has been cancelled.  The decision to cancel this year’s event was not taken lightly, and while we are disappointed in the cancellation, we understand that this is the best course to ensure the health and safety for those who planned to attend.

However, while there will not be a public event on October 3, 2021, there will be a small gathering taking place to honour those we’ve lost.  At 1pm, on October 3, 2021, OAFC Director and Secretary, Deputy Chief Rob Grimwood and OAFC Director and Treasurer, Deputy Chief Jeremy Inglis, will represent the OAFC and join a small group of dignitaries who will stand together in solidarity and take the opportunity to remember those who fallen with a moment of silence.

We plan to memorialize those we’ve lost in 2020 and 2021, at a public memorial gathering to take place sometime in 2022.

Ontario Memorial Decorating Policy:

The Ontario Memorial Committee understands the importance of memorializing lost loved ones. We understand the significance of leaving pictures and personal items on the walls to recognize and remember those that have fallen in the line of duty.

If family members choose to leave a decoration or photo up on the memorial walls following the ceremony, we support you in doing so. In some circumstances, a photo or memento can be large enough to block another person's name on the walls, so please be respectful of all fallen fire fighters names.

Please be advised that the OPP Office at Queen's Park will remove and dispose of any items left for longer than a week after the ceremony.
