A woman has been taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in a home on Starwood Drive this afternoon (Wednesday, March 23).Blaze

Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services platoon chief Mike Corcoran said the fire is believed to have started in the garage of the home, which is near Mavis Road and Bristol Road West, shortly after 2 p.m.

A woman who was in the basement of the home when the two-alarm fire started was rescued by firefighters and taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Corcoran said the woman appeared “a little scared and a little confused” as she went into the ambulance.

The fire is under control and there were no injuries to firefighters.

Fire crews are trying to determine what caused the fire.
