Update: 3 unaccounted for in Strong structure fire

UPDATE (3:20 p.m.): Robins Road, East of Highway 11 is closed until further notice, following a residential fire that destroyed a home on the road early on the morning of Monday, Nov. 29.

Three people are unaccounted for following the structure fire in Strong Township.

According to a police release from Almaguin OPP, the cause and origin of the residential fire on Robins Road is currently under investigation.

Almaguin OPP was on scene and communications officer, Constable Louise Maki said the origin of the structure fire is currently unknown. 

"We can say that three people are unaccounted for," Maki told Almaguin News. "Until the fire departments are able to do their job, we have no idea." 

The Office of the Fire Marshall for Ontario was also on scene. 

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, the Sundridge-Strong, South-River Machar and Magnetawan Fire Departments responded to a structural fire on Robins Road.

As of 11:29 a.m., the structure was still smouldering and fire crews were on scene.

Almaguin OPP was also on scene and would not comment on whether or not anyone was in the structure at this time.

Robins Road is closed to those exiting Hwy. 11 at this time.
