The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called to investigate an early morning house fire on Six Nations from which two men were taken to hospital.

Six Nations Fire and Emergency Services crews from four stations were dispatched to a house fire on Seneca Road on Wednesday shortly before 8:30 a.m. The first arriving crews reported heavy black smoke coming from the west side of the residence with two male running in and out of the building, fire Chief Matthew Miller said in a news release.

“The crews started an offensive attack of the fire, made entry into the homes and were able to knock the fire down quickly,” he said.

The two victims were treated by Six Nations paramedics for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the fire is unknown. No damage estimate is available at this time but the home had extensive smoke damage, said Miller.
