Strong response to last fire department recruitment
The Record

More than 20 people responded to the last call for new members for the Dundalk Fire Department.

In January, seven new auxiliary firefighters will begin a four-month in-house training program. After completion, they will begin responding to emergency calls.

New members are: Georgia-Anne Reidl, Trevor Hald, Kyle Babcock, Stephen Zezelic, William Conley, Zachary Hull and Justin Pate.

With these hirings, the department will have 34 volunteers and two full-time staff.

The department advertised on social media, the Dundalk Herald and through the Dundalk Fire Department sign on Hwy. 10.

There were 21 applicants, and interviews were conducted by the Fire Chief, Human Resource Co-ordinator and Fire Officers.

Seven candidates were selected, and moved on to complete the physical fitness testing.

With the newest members, the Fire Department will be up to 34 volunteers.

“Lots of people want to join this department,” Deputy-Mayor Brian Milne observed, saying it was a tribute to Chief Derek Malynyk.
