Retiring district fire Chief Owen Simmons received a fire axe engraved with his name at Pelham town council Monday.
 
He served 35 years with the department, for which he also received a service medal.
 
Other service medals were presented to Terry Beckett, also with 35 years, and to James Waldek, Larry Pelt, Ron Gilbert and Ben Gutenberg, each with 20 years of service.
